Then join our library page Sage Dalton from 6:30 to 8:00 pm as she moderates a teen book discussion focusing on Jerry Spinelli's novel Stargirl. Registration is required for both programs. West Long Branch Public Library will be celebrating Teen Read Week beginning today, Monday, October 15th through Friday, October 19th. There will be programming each day this week. A Meeting of the Macabre - October 21st

The Friends of the West Long Branch Public Library will sponsor "A Meeting of the Macabre" on Sunday, October 21st at 3:00 pm at the library. Edgar Allan Poe was one of the greatest American poets, a master of the horror tale and inspiration for the detective story. Abraham "Bram" Stoker was an Irish writer, best known for his vampire novel Dracula. Witness a live, "imaginary" meeting of these two famous horror authors as they appear dressed in authentic period clothing and chat about their lives, their inspirations and their disappointments. The scribes will also read from their works to the audience. This program is free and open to the public. For more information about this event, download the program flier!

Teen Read Week: October 15th - 19th

Teen Read Week returns to the West Long Branch Public Library from October 15th through 19th, sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association! Once again this year we will have daily programming for teens during the week. This year's activities include a book discussion group, a video game tournament, a beading and jewelry crafting session, a standup comedy seminar and a movie night. Birding at the Hook II

The Friends of the West Long Branch Public Library will sponsor Birding at the Hook II: A Birding Field Trip to Sandy Hook on Saturday, October 6th starting at 1:00 pm. The event is free to the public. Naturalist Scott Barnes of the Sandy Hook Bird Oberservatory will guide participants in viewing birds at special observation points in Sandy Hook. Banned Books Week 2007

The West Long Branch Public Library will be celebrating Banned Books Week during the week of September 29 - October 6, 2007. Treasure your freedom to read and get hooked on a banned book! First observed in 1982, Banned Books Week reminds Americans not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted. The event is sponsored by the American Booksellers Association, the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, the American Library Association (ALA), the Association of American Publishers, the American Society of Journalists and Authors and the National Association of College Stores. It is endorsed by the Library of Congress Center for the Book. Please visit the library, view our display and check out a banned book today!

October Art Exhibit: Bill Cole & Frank Colaguori

The Friends of the West Long Branch Public Library present the art exhibit for October 2007. This exhibit features watercolors by Bill Cole and Frank Colaguori. The exhibit will be on display in our Meeting Room during regular library hours from October 1st through 31st. There will also be a "Meet the Artists" reception in the library on Sunday, October 7, 2007 from 3 to 5 PM.
