Book Discussion Group April Selection: Women of the Silk by Gail Tsukiyama

During the month of April the West Long Branch Public Library's Book Discussion Group will be reading Women of the Silk by Gail Tsukiyama. This first novel tells the story of Pei, a Chinese woman who works in the silk factories in early twentieth century China. This is a rich portrait of a woman's life in a China now lost.

"Tsukiyama's writing style has a controlled fluidity, that hints at explosive passions lurking beneath the surface...A sensory experience." -Los Angeles Japanese Daily.

If you would like to read along with us you can check out a copy of the book at the Circulation Desk.
